Northern Education Teaching Internship Programme
Northern Education Trust has, for the first time, taken part in the DfE’s Teaching Internship Programme, which ran from 27 June to 15 July 2022.
The aim of the programme is to enable undergraduates studying for a degree in STEM-related subjects the opportunity to experience teaching maths, physics or computing before they commit to it as a career. This programme is part of the Get into Teaching service, supporting prospective teachers through their journey into the profession.
We recruited three interns, one in computing based at Duke House Academy and two in maths, who were based at Red House and Grangefield Academies.
The three interns attended a welcome and introduction meeting at Dyke House Academy on the first day and then spent the remainder of the three weeks in their host school, where they took part in activities such as lesson observation and subject planning.
