NET Staff College launch event press release
It is with immense pride that Northern Education Trust can announce the opening of their Staff College (NETSC). The occasion was marked with a special ceremony on Tuesday 28th September 2021 which was attended by dignitaries from across the education and business sectors based in the north of England.
Mr. Ben Houchen, esteemed guest and Mayor of Tees Valley, formally opened the wonderful facility which is based adjacent to NET Freebrough Academy in Brotton, Saltburn-by-the-sea.
The NETSC was established to provide new and dynamic training opportunities to staff at all career stages and specialisms within the education sector. Its aim is to realise the full potential of all education staff by providing ‘world-class’ professional development, which will enable colleagues to deliver exceptional outcomes for children and young people.
For those interested in teaching, the NETSC offers a range of initial teacher training courses designed to develop those who are new to the profession. The Trust is proud partners with Teach First to deliver both the full Early Career Framework and the full suite of reformed National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).
A key ambition of the NETSC is to be more than simply a training centre for teachers. It also offers training and professional courses in business services, estates management, health & safety, governance and safeguarding. Proud of the variety of training on offer, the Trust truly believes that the courses offered cater to the breadth of staff who work in schools to make them a success.
In addition to providing education focused training opportunities, the NETSC also offers state of the art meeting and conference facilities which are available for use by both education and business establishments in the surrounding area. Facilities are offered at not-for-profit rates to ensure the widest possible access for the local community.
Speaking at the launch event Mr Rob Tarn, Chief Executive of Northern Education Trust said;
“Building upon the strong reputation and success of Northern Education Trust, our staff college is the mechanism of delivering all our training for our teachers and support staff and a way of offering support to the wider sector. Developing our staff to ensure they can support the children and young people in our care is very important to us. It is a wonderful facility that we can offer to the wider community.”
Mr Ben Houchen added;
“It’s great being able to train staff but opening it up to the wider community and business sector is also important. This will ensure there is a genuine and important link between education and business.”
