Initial Teacher Training Programme with Educate Teacher Training
“Applying for my teacher training within the trust is absolutely the best decision I’ve ever made. I already worked within the trust as a Learning Manager and had worked within Deep support since 2015. This was a huge step for me but made so easy as the trust have ALWAYS been extremely encouraging and supportive of pursuing my personal and professional development, as they are with everyone. This is the only reason I had the confidence to apply for the ITT with Educate and I’m so glad I did.
Within the ITT, I have been supported in developing and building new skills. Working with my mentors, I am able to set targets to enhance my teaching as well as my understanding of how children learn and the D&T curriculum as a whole. Every week, I have been able to build on my professional development through training sessions which have been really beneficial in applying that knowledge to not only the classroom but assignments as well.
I have been given the opportunity to observe good practice from colleagues throughout the school, not only in my department but outside of it. Through this, I was able to see a range of methods and strategies used as tools for learning and assessment which I have implemented into my own practice.
The most nerve wracking part about this was worrying about the moderations and observations as I think it’s every ITT trainee’s worry. Luckily, being around such supportive staff and in such a supportive department and environment, I have been encouraged every step of the way and I’ve loved every second of it. This support has made me really eager to constantly improve to ensure I’m the best teacher I can be.
I am thoroughly enjoying completing my training within the trust and I wouldn’t have done it anywhere else. The ITT programme has not only developed new skills but developed my passion from working in a school into a passion for teaching, my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.”
