The Northern Education Trust Primary Curriculum is built on high quality, ambitious and sequenced learning delivered across a broad and balanced range of subjects. The curriculum approach focuses on individual subject disciplines. Our Primary Subject Discipline courses are designed to develop primary teachers’ subject knowledge across multiple aspects of the curriculum. In 2020-2021 the courses will be run for geography, history, art and design technology.
The course is designed for primary teachers from Early Years to Year 6. It is also suitable for HLTAs who may be delivering curriculum areas.
An introduction to the subject from EYFS to Year 6. The first session will focus on the aims and objectives behind the NET approach for geography and will outline the core principles of retrieval practice and knowledge acquisition. Phase two is made of four different sessions looking at each keystage in more detail. The final session will be a live session where questions can be answered.
Each of the courses will be structured across three phases:
Phase 1 – an introduction to the subject from EYFS to Year 6.
Phase 2 – deep dive into the subject areas.
Phase 3 – Review
