PARTICIPANT PROFILE: Malcolm Kenwothy (NET Freebrough Academy)
I have been using the KS3 resources for Computer Science that have been prepared by the Associate Director this term, and I must say that they are excellent. Communication of purpose is clear from the outset and the management of resources and information is well handled.
The non-specialist guidance CPD provision has been essential for me as a new member of the Trust as it has given me the opportunity to get up to speed quickly, clearly understand the structure of lessons, the expectations on the students and the rigor of the subject area; while also supporting my needs as a developing member of staff when clarity in key subject areas is needed.
The lessons themselves have an excellent balance to the content and they have a clear logical progression. The resources are well planned, presented, and contain videos and activities to keep the students engaged with the lessons. The flow of lessons is well thought out, and the activities paced just right to ensure that everything is covered in the appropriate lesson.
Slides in presentations are laid out in such a way that they can be used as worksheets where needed, freeing up time from finding additional resources or creating my own.
The suite of support that the NET has provided for Computer Science are excellent and have made my integration into Freebrough Academy a very smooth process.
